1. DWARS meets wethouder Wim Hazeu

Have you always wanted to know what an alderman does? Or how an alderman can put Green politics on the agenda? Or did you think an alderman in Maastricht only does what mayor Leers wants him to? Come then on April 18^th to "DWARS meets...", because then Greens alderman Wim Hazeu will be our guest! Check this for more info (in Dutch) or mail to Gert-Jan@dwars.org.

2. DWARS in action for Millennium Development Goals

In the framework of the International Day of the Third World on April 18^th DWARS Maastricht will campaign for the Millennium Development Goals together with Ecolo J Liège. Check here for more info.

3. DWARS Movienights

DWARS Maastricht will organise the coming two months two movienights. The first will take place on April 24^th and will be about Cradle to Cradle. There will be live music by Japayork and Chapter 4. Roel Moonen of Artisjok will provide the documentary of an introduction. Check here for more info.

Furthermore DWARS Maastricht will organise another movienight in the framework of the Ragweek 2008. This movienight will take place on May 22^nd with Our Daily Bread. Check here for more info.

There is a maximum of 100 people who can attend the movienights. To apply is a wise thing to do if you want to be sure to be there as well! To do so, mail to virgil@maastricht.dwars.org.

4. DWARS mosque visit

DWARS Maastricht will pay a visit to the El Fath mosque in Maastricht. The date for this visit has not yet been fixed, but possibly this will be on May 9^th. We will get a conducted tour and of course there will be a possibility for asking questions and for discussion. If you want to join us, mail to kathleen@maastricht.dwars.org.

5. DWARS wants nachttrains in South-Limburg

DWARS Maastricht pleads for a nocturnal timetable for the trains in South-Limburg. Like in the West of the Netherlands and in the province of Noord-Brabant during the nights between Thursday and Sunday there should be trains between Maastricht, Sittard-Geleen and Heerlen. The Young Greens make this appeal to the provincie and to Veolia as it turns out that the introduction of a nocturnal timetable in Noord-Brabant has led to more tot meer activity at the bandstands in Brabant. It's been a while since the last news letter came out, so there has been a lot of new contents on the website, like new pictures and a new cartoon of our cartoonist Zine Zouggari.

DWARS Maastricht is the younger little brother of Groenlinks, the green left party in The Netherlands. We observe Groenlinks and the politics of Maastricht and surroundings in an independent and critical way. Our aim is to contribute to protecting that which is vulnerable in society. but most of all we cherish the aim of having fun together. Politics will result from that automatically!

DWARS Maastricht organises once a month an activity for all her members (active and inactive). Next to that there's also another monthly meeting for all active members. During these meetings various things are discussed, like the current local political affairs and the planning and preparation of new activities and meetings.

Do you want to become active and join us? Just sign up for our emaillist of active members by means of our contact-form. That will give you the opportunity of taking part in internal discussions and you'll know sooner when new activities are planned.
